Welcome to Hogeland, Montana

Hogeland was named for A. H. Hogeland, who was an engineer for the Great Northern Railroad. The first post office was established with the homesteading growth in 1928, with Stener Wiprud as postmaster. At one time Hogeland is said to have had three restaurants, a hotel, two general stores, two saloons with pool halls, two garages, a hardware store, a filling station, a butcher block, a lumberyard, a weekly newspaper, a church, a school, a dairy, and a blacksmith shop. This town’s population declined in 1960 to around 80.
