Welcome to Roy, Montana Roy, like so many communities in Montana, found its origins as a homesteading town. Roy’s peak population was in 1915 when there were about 400 citizens, but when crop prices fell and drought hit eastern and central Montana the population dwindled. Today the area is predominately cattle ranches.
