Welcome to Stockett, Montana

Stockett was a coal mining town that took its name from Lewis Stockett the manager of the Cottonwood Coal Company of the late 1800s. Stockett was a company town where the miners were required to do their shopping at the company store. Most of the town’s original inhabitants were immigrants of Italian, Polish, or Slavic heritage. Stockett is nestled in the Little Belt Mountains between the Smith and Missouri river.
